Kulman Ghising, executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority, said that the entire evidence of the will regarding the use of dedicated and tank lines is safe.
Addressing a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday, Ghising claimed that there was no tampering with the will for using the dedicated and tank line and said that the entire evidence was safe. He pointed out that the evidence of the bill with the authority had previously been submitted to the court and the previous Public Accounts Committee as well as the necessary orders and decisions. Saying that it is not true that the reading of the TOD meter is not with the authority, he said that the details are with the authority. He said that now the professor has sent the self-description sought by the Public Accounts Committee and other documents have also been included in it for support.
He informed that the authority, which had accumulated losses of PRs 34.61 billion eight years ago, has now reached a cumulative profit of Rs 47.41 billion. According to him, the total assets of the authority have reached Rs 6 crore 32 crore from Rs 2 crore 11 crore eight years ago. He said that the surplus power consumed within the country is being exported as per the day-ahead and real-time market of the Indian competitive market and also as per the interim agreement.
In the last financial year, it exported 1.94 billion units of electricity and earned Rs 17.77 billion. Stating that Nepal’s clean green energy is going to be exported to Bangladesh soon, Ghising said that the necessary homework for this has been completed and a tripartite agreement has been reached between the bodies of Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
He mentioned that the leakage of the system was reduced to 12.73% in the last financial year by making the steps taken to control the leakage more systematic and effective. He said that the electrification rate has increased from 89.7% three years ago to 99% now.
He said that the campaign to enrich the country by increasing domestic consumption by providing electricity not only to homes and properties but also to industries, businesses and factories has also been successful. He made it clear that the authority would remain active to complete the government’s action plan with a target of producing 28,000 megawatts of electricity by 2035 and that the direction of the government and the interests of consumers were paramount for the authority.
