NC office-bearers meeting rescheduled for coming Friday

Kathmandu, July 1- The meeting of the office-bearers of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been rescheduled to coming Friday. The meeting slated to convene today has been postponed citing lack of preparation, according to NC Central Office chief-secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.

During the meeting, efforts will be made to forge a consensus in the top level regarding the criteria about the active membership in the NC. The meeting will be attended by office-bearers, former office-bearers and members of the active membership investigation committee, informed Poudel.

The Committee said that there are over 830,000 active members in the NC. NC is gearing up for its 14th national convention which is long overdue.

Meanwhile, the NC has condemned the act of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City to erase the mural painted in a wall in Kathmandu in which highest regard was expressed for the frontline workers during the ongoing COVID-19.

A team of artists namely Sange Thinley Lama, Kipa Sherpa and Sumina Shrestha among others had painted the mural portraying the security personnel, cleaning staffers, healthcare personnel and media persons among others some two weeks ago.

They had obtained the permit in writing to paint the mural which had taken the artists team a week to paint.
Issuing a press statement, NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma criticized the act of the metropolis and said the act had disregarded the art and the artists.

The statement read, “The Metropolis may find it normal to hear the news of removal of the mural amid many news. To humiliate the artists instead of expressing honour to the front-line workers in the form of artwork does not reflect the behavior of a civilized and a well-cultured society.”

NC had also questioned the concerned authorities whether the sight of that mural had blemished the beauty of the city? “Instead, the heaps of trashes thrown in various places across the Metropolis had blemished the beauty of the City,” the NC said expressing its discontent over the act.
