Chitwan, July 19 – Two rhinos were found dead in Chitwan National Park on Sunday. One of them is old and the other is a child. According to Lokendra Adhikari, information officer of the park, a two-month-old baby rhino was found dead on the bank of the Rapti River near Kasara. He said he may have died from a tiger attack.
Similarly, a 30-year-old rhinoceros was found dead at Ratanpur Ghat under Amaltari sector. The male rhino was found buried in the sand on the banks of Narayani River. The rhino’s horns and hooves were safe, he said, adding that both died of natural causes.
Last fiscal year, 32 rhinos died in the park due to natural causes and poaching.
Last year, 26 rhinos had died due to natural causes.
