A Dalit family in Dhanusha has been brutally beaten by a group of local CPN-UML cadres.

Kathmandu, August 4 – A Dalit family in Dhanusha has been brutally beaten by a group of local CPN-UML cadres. According to the victim, relatives of UML leader Yog Kumar Yadav of Dhanushadham Municipality and his group beat him up.

Dalit community of Dhanushadham Municipality-4 has been beaten. Srichan Mahara, Hiradevi Mahara, Opin Mahara and Urmila Mahara were injured in the incident. The injured have been taken to a local health facility for treatment.

In Dhanushadham Municipality, UML mayoral candidate Yadav’s relatives Sanjay Yadav, Krishna Yadav, Vijay Yadav, Dhanesh Yadav and others broke into his house and beat him up, said Srichan Mahara. According to Mahara, the Yadav group has repeatedly attacked them on the pretext of land dispute.

According to Suresh Thakur, Inspector at the Area Police Office, Dhanushadham, Yadav’s relatives had reportedly beaten him during a dispute over social issues.

He said that the assailants had fled when the police team reached the spot. He said that the incident was being investigated and action would be taken against the culprits.
