Three former British Gurkha soldiers have gone on a hunger strike in London demanding pension benefits like other retired British soldiers.

Kathmandu, August 8 – Three former British Gurkha soldiers have gone on a hunger strike in London demanding pension benefits like other retired British soldiers.

Retired British Gurkha soldiers Gyan Raj Rai, Dhan Bahadur Gurung and Pushpa Ghale Rana have started a hunger strike in front of the residence of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Downing Street from Saturday. They have demanded the same pension facility for Bhupu British Gurkha soldiers as for other retired British soldiers.

Before the start of the hunger strike on Saturday, people had gathered demanding equal services. They chanted slogans like ‘Ayo Gurkhali’, ‘Give equal rights to Gurkha soldiers’.

The participants in the demonstration said that they have started this movement for the rights and entitlements of Bhupu soldiers as well as for the existence of Nepal.
