12 killed as micro-bus hits parked truck in Banke

Dang, June 1-Twelve persons have died and 21 others sustained injuries when a micro-bus hit a parked truck at Rapti Sonari rural municipality of Banke district along the East-West Highway Sunday midnight.

Six of the victims are from Salyan district, three including the micro-bus driver from Surkhet, two from Dang and one from Rolpa, according to the police.

The Force micro-bus (Ba 4 Kha 9064) going to Salyan from Nepalgunj via Dang hit the broken truck (Na 5 Kha 5995) at around 12:15 in the night. The deceased include 11 men and a woman with all, apart from the driver, returning from India.

All the injured persons and the dead ones were taken to the Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj. Medical Superintendent at the hospital Dr Prakash Thapa told nepalijanta that one man breathed his last at the hospital while the others were declared dead on arrival.

He added that four of the injured persons are in critical condition.
