Tanahun farmers being attracted to ginger and turmeric cultivation

Tanahun, July 18 – Sher Bahadur Thapa of Khola, known as Ghiring Gaonpalika-2 of Tanahu, has been cultivating ginger for the past few years. Thapa, who initially cultivated ginger only for subsistence, has made ginger farming commercial since last year.

Thapa has made ginger farming commercial after the Ghiring Municipality provided subsidy to the ginger farmers. Thapa said, “I have been cultivating ginger for many years, but I have been cultivating it for my own use rather than selling it,” he said. Are cultivating.

Romnath Pokhrel of Ghiring Gaonpalika-1 Atrauli is also cultivating  turmeric (Besar) in an area of ​​two ropanis. “I have expanded the farming after introducing subsidy to the farmers on the land above the plantation,” he said. “The subsidy has given relief to farmers like us.”

Farmers have been attracted to this after the Ghiring Municipality arranged a subsidy for the farmers who cultivate ginger and turmeric (Besar) . The village municipality has distributed subsidy to nine farmers in the village municipality on the basis of production in the last fiscal year.

Chairman of the village municipality Ran Bahadur Thapa informed that a grant arrangement has been made to make the village self-reliant in ginger and turmeric by commercializing the subsistence farmers. “This is just the beginning. We give subsidies to farmers every year on the basis of production,” he said.

According to him,  Grants have been distributed to farmers at the rate of Rs 5,000. Seven ginger farmers have been given Rs. One lakh 40 thousand and Rs. 20,000 grants have been given. Sher Bahadur Thapa of Ghiring Village Municipality-2, who cultivates ginger, has given Rs. 20 thousand, Yaduraj Pokhrel of Ghiring Gaonpalika-1 Atrauli, who cultivates turmeric (Besar), Rs. Romnath Pokhrel of Ghiring Gaonpalika-1 Atrauli, who cultivates ten thousand rupees, has given Rs. Ten thousand, Lok Bahadur Gurung of Ghiring Village Municipality-3 Newapani, who cultivates ginger, has given Rs. 30,000, Min Bahadur Thapa of Ghiring Village Municipality-5 Kitia who cultivates ginger Rs. 25,000, Tol Bahadur Thapa, Om Bahadur Thapa, Som Bahadur Thapa and Sher Bahadur Thapa of Ghiring-5 Manf. 65 thousand have been received.

Chairman Thapa said that the village municipality has made arrangements to provide subsidy on the basis of production in the coming fiscal year as well. “Because of this, we believe that farmers will be attracted to its cultivation,” he said.

The village municipality has been distributing subsidy to the farmers who cultivate garlic and onion. The village municipality has also distributed subsidy of Rs 5,000 per ropani to garlic and onion farmers. According to the village municipality, the grant amount has been distributed to 18 farmers.
