Kathmandu, July 21 – The United States has condemned a rocket attack near the presidential palace in the Afghan capital, Kabul. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a presidential palace during Eid prayers.

Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, State Department spokesman Ned Price condemned the rocket attack near the presidential palace in Kabul. “The United States is calling for an end to violence and the restoration of peace in Afghanistan, and we call for a speedy return to political settlement and an end to violence,” Price told a news conference.

Three rockets were fired at an area near the Rashtrapati Bhavan during Eid prayers on Tuesday morning. The spokesman said the people of Afghanistan were united in their desire for justice and lasting peace and that the United States was ready to implement it.

Speaking at the ceremony after Eid prayers, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani condemned the Taliban and said they had no desire for peace.
