
Kathmandu, July 27 – A teenager has been killed in Uttar Pradesh, India, for wearing jeans.
According to international media, Neha Paswan, a 17-year-old girl from Sabhreji Kharg village in Uttar Pradesh has died after being beaten by her family members.
According to Neha’s mother Shakuntala Devi Paswan, Neha was beaten to death by her grandparents and uncles during a dispute over wearing jeans.
“She is OK. In the evening, when he started worshiping wearing jeans and a top, his grandparents objected to his clothes. Neha said that she made the jeans to wear and she wore them ‘, said Neha’s mother. According to him, the incident has escalated after the controversy escalated.
According to Shakuntala Devi, the girl’s aunt called a rickshaw and rushed her to the hospital after she lost consciousness due to the beating. However, Shakuntala was not allowed to go along. Shakuntala then informed her relatives about the incident and her relatives went to the hospital to look for the girl.
The next day, the relatives heard the body of the girl hanging on the bridge of Gandak river and when they went there, it was confirmed that the body belonged to Neha.
Police have filed a case against 10 people on charges of murder and attempting to destroy evidence in the incident. Among them are Neha’s grandparents, uncles / aunts, cousins’ sons and rickshaw pullers. So far, the statement of the accused has not been received.
Senior Police Officer Shreyas Tripathi said that Neha’s grandfather, grandmother, uncle and the autorickshaw driver have been arrested so far. He said that other accused were also being searched. Neha’s father works at a construction site in Ludhiana, Punjab.
According to Shakuntala, her in-laws had been pressuring her not to send her to a local school. He said that the school was dressed differently from traditional Indian clothes.
Such incidents happen from time to time in rural India. Where women are subject to very strict rules and controls. There have been reports of brutal torture and beatings from family members of those who do not follow this rule.
