Kathmandu, August 8 – National Assembly member Nanda Chapai has demanded the government to make immediate arrangements for a maternity home hospital in Surkhet. Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly on Sunday, she said that many pregnant women in remote areas had lost their lives in the famine and called on the government to build a maternity hospital in Surkhet immediately.

MP Chapai also warned the government to make public the list of free medicines available to the general public. “It simply came to our notice then. But where and how to get it? The public is not aware.

It has been found that even the free medicines are dumped at the dumping site after the expiry of the period. It is very important for the government to pay attention to this. I would like to draw the attention of the government through the CA chairperson to make the list of such free medicines available to the public.

MP Chapai also stressed on the need for the government to focus on the construction of physical infrastructure including roads for the people of remote areas. She also drew the government’s attention to the fact that patients in remote areas have lost their lives due to lack of physical infrastructure including roads.
