Let there be a national consensus on the US aid project MCC: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota

Kathmandu, August 11 – Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota said that he wanted a national consensus on the US aid project MCC.
Talking to reporters in his office on Wednesday, he said there should be a national consensus in the MCC.

“I am studying the MCC in a neutral way. I want a national consensus to move it forward, because it is a matter that has reached the doorsteps of the people,” he said.

Speaker Sapkota said that even if there is no national consensus, there should be consensus among the parties in the parliament and if not, there should be consensus among the parties in the ruling coalition.

He also told reporters that when he visited Jugal village in Sindhupalchowk, a local spoke in Tamang language and told him not to pass the MCC.

The agreement on the US aid project is under consideration in Parliament for approval.
