Daughter dead, mother injured in a fire incident

Myaglung, March 5 – An adolescent died in a fire that broke out at the home of Rammaya Karki of Chhathar rural municipality-2, Hamarjung in Taplejung this morning.

Karki’s 20-year-old daughter, Samjhana Karki, breathed her last in the incident. The fire engulfed the two-storey wooden house of Karki at 6.15 am.

Samjhana was burnt alive inside the house, shared Narayan Gautam, Information Officer at District Police Office.
Rammaya was rushed to Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Science for further treatment after it was not possible at local health facilities, said locals.

Investigation is underway to spell out the truth behind the incident, Information Officer Gautam said.
Police speculated that property worth amounting to Rs 1 million was gutted in the fire incident.
