Hetauda, Nov 1, 2018- Province 3 Chief Minister Dormani Paudel is considering relieving Minister for Physical Infrastructure Keshav Sthapit from the post.
Chief Minister Paudel came to Kathmandu on Thursday to request Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman KP Sharma Oli to remove Sthapit from the post.
Second rung leader in the Cabinet, Sthapit is accused of not carrying out his responsibility properly and showing disrespects to the Chief Minister time and again.
In a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, Paudel said the province government could not give momentum to development works due to lack of activity of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure.
Soon after the Chief Minister expressed his views, Minister Sthapit came down heavily on him and said that he is carrying out the ministry’s work properly.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure with a budget of Rs 13 billion has not been able to make tangible progress in terms of development works.
Chief Minister Paudel and Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning KailashDhungel left for Kathmandu today to discuss the removal of Sthapit from the post with party leadership.
It has been learnt that Chief Minister Paudel will remove Sthapit from the post only after taking approval from Prime Minister and party Chairman KP Sharma Oli and another Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
A minister said that Chief Minister Paudel is disappointed with Sthapit’s behaviour on Wednesday.
“Soft-spoken and disciplined in nature, Chief Minister Paudel is very sad with Sthapit’s behaviour,” the minister said, adding, “Sthapit is light-minded and can never become serious about anything.”
But Minister Sthapit denied misbehaving with Chief MinisterPaudel. “My voice is louder, I spoke a bit loudly. But I haven’t misbehaved,” he said.
According to a minister, the meeting hall became heated with the ministers slamming the table. Minister Sthapit left for Kathmandu today itself.
