Kathmandu, August 5 – Senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel has claimed that the legitimacy of the current Central Working Committee will end after September 8.

He said that the party’s working committee from ward to central level would not have legitimacy after September 8 as the constitution stipulates that the general convention should be held within five years and six months.

A discussion was held between the top leaders of the Poudel group at the residence of former general minister Prakash Man Singh in Chaksiwari on Thursday. After the discussion, Poudel told reporters that a special constitution was proposed to preserve the party’s legitimacy.

“There is still time. We have proposed that a special session be held to preserve the legitimacy of the convention, even if there is no time to complete the process,” he said. “This is not the last resort.”

Leader Poudel, General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala, Former General Secretary Singh, Central Member Arjun Narasimha KC, Dr. Minendra Rijal and Bal Bahadur KC were the participants.

The General Convention is in a dilemma due to the active membership dispute in the Congress. The Central General Convention, which is scheduled to be held from September 4 to 5, is uncertain due to active membership.
