Kathmandu, August 10 – As the government has not made necessary arrangements at the Kantipath-based passport department in Kathmandu, the service recipients have been forced to sit in crowds to get their passports.

The service recipients, who have been appealing to the passport department since Tuesday morning, have been appealing to maintain the physical distance during the coronation period.

Dil Bahadur Gurung, who came to Kathmandu from Rupandehi Devdaha to get his daughter’s passport, said that the government itself did not make the necessary arrangements and it was compulsory to get the passport even in the Corona period.

He slammed the government for making it a rule to work at a physical distance and even for the service recipients to get their passports in a crowd. Gurung also demanded the government to make necessary arrangements for obtaining passports from the state and local levels.

Meanwhile, Dhirendra Kumar Shah from Dhanusha complained that he could not get his passport on time even after paying the fee. He said that the government has not been able to maintain the social distance to get a passport even in the Corona period and they are confused as there is no place for interrogation in the department.

Tej Bahadur Karki of Bhaktapur Duwakot, who arrived in the morning to renew his passport, also said that he was compelled to take his passport. He also clarified that they were forced to sit in the crowd to get their passports at the risk of Corona.

The service recipients have complained that the government has not been able to manage the crowd even while talking about the physical distance. They have also urged the government to end the compulsory situation of coming to Kathmandu to get a passport.
