A 26-member team comprising athletes, coaches and officials from Nepal participated in the Tokyo Olympics

Kathmandu, July 13 – A 26-member team comprising athletes, coaches and officials will represent Nepal in the Tokyo Olympics. The Nepal Olympic Committee, which will have five athletes and four coaches, has given information in a press conference on Tuesday.

Gaurika Singh and Alexander Gadimad Shah of swimming will compete on behalf of the athletes while Kalpana Pariyar of shooting, Suniya Bhatt of judo and Saraswati Chaudhary of athletics will participate in the Olympics.

Similarly, Shankar Karki of Swimming, Asim Yadav of Shooting, Suryanarayan Shrestha of Judo and Indra Kumari Mall of Athletics are the coaches. Out of which, two swimmers and one athlete will participate in the game under ‘Universality Place’. The other two players will participate on the basis of wild card.

Ramesh Kumar Silwal, member-secretary of the Nepali team’s Safe the Mission National Sports Council will be in the Olympics.

Similarly, Chairman of the Nepal Olympic Committee Jeevan Ram Shrestha and General Secretary Nilendra Raj Shrestha will participate on behalf of the International Olympic Committee. From the Nepal Olympic Committee, Vice President and Executive Director Chaturananda Rajvaidya, Vice Presidents Tej Bahadur Gurung and Sunil Kumar Shrestha, Joint General Secretary Pitamber Timalsina and others will participate in the Tokyo Olympics.

Similarly, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Kedar Neupane, Vice President of the National Sports Council Shiva Koirala, Dr. from the medical team. Navishman Singh Pradhan and others will also go to Tokyo.

Preparations for the team to participate in the Tokyo Olympics began in May 2019. Twelve athletes from seven sports participated in the Olympic Scholarship provided by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
