Kathmandu, July 27 – Nepali swimmer Alexander (Alex) Shah set a national record at the Tokyo Olympics. In the men’s 100m freestyle, he improved his own record by becoming the first in his hit. But they could not reach the next stage.
Alex, who competed in the first hit at the Tokyo Aquatic Center, finished first with a time of 53.41 seconds. There were 7 players including Alex in this hit. Earlier, Alex had a record of 54.13 seconds. Which he made on the 13th.
Only 16 players who have the best time in this competition will reach the semifinals. Although Alex set the record by being the first in his hit, he failed to reach the next stage due to good timing of other players.
Alex, along with another swimmer Gaurika Singh, carried the Nepalese flag at the inauguration of the Tokyo Olympics. Gaurika will compete in the women’s 100-meter freestyle on Wednesday.
